Paracord 2L, Plastic thingy.

Paracord 2L : A simple little tool to store and work paracord. Holds 100' of 550, with everything you need to measure, cut, and heat seal the ends.
This man spent years trying to figure out the best way to store paracord in his backpack.

Looks like he finally just built one of those H-Shaped plastic things you get kite-string on.

You can put it next to your manly tools like your half-open pocket knife, your off-brand mag-light and your watch.

You can even put it next to your gun, which also has a watch.

I actually thought this was a great idea. I’d had a lot of trouble weaving a paracord strap (paracord really likes to tangle; he’s right about it being a pain in the rear to manage in longer lengths), so I had to improvise something like this. Having these to use as weaving shuttles would have been extremely helpful. It has a built-in blade for slicing the cord (but inset into the side so that you can’t cut your fingers) and holes for the different grades of cords so that you can light the end on fire, seal it, shape it (and put the fire out) all at once.

Yea, I’m not saying it wouldn’t be handy. If you’re carrying a thin rope like paracord you absolutely need SOMETHING to wind it around or you’ll drive yourself crazy.

I was just amused that he went through this whole process of discovery and wound up with the almost same design they use for cheap kite-string!

(That and the photographs, carefully staged so that we don’t forget this is for manly camping and hunting.)
