Queen of Who?

Queen of Hearts - by Jeff Donovan Wade

Want to know about Queen of Hearts character? Support her #0 comic book. If goal is reached, supporters will be given LIMITED rewards!
Not really. Who the hell is she?

You mean the playing card? The villain from “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland“? Any one of a dozen songs, poems, and TV shows?

Nope. This “Queen of Hearts” is an original comic book by Jeff Donovan Wade. (Never heard of him either!) And when I say “original”, I mean it doesn’t exist yet, and furthermore Jeff Donovan Wade has never created a comic in his life.

Update!

(Updated June 4th, 2013)
The creator of this project has contacted me to complain that, while discussing his professional credentials, I didn’t include his X-Men fanfic.

He seems to believe that if you know about this fanfic, which he created by copy/pasting art together, then you would take him seriously as an artist.

So, you can read the comic if you dare, and see if it improves your opinion of Jeff Donovan Wade as an artist.

Mr. Wade is begging for $2,200 so he can hire someone to pencil, ink, and color (Oh, didn’t I mention? This guy is just the writer.) a comic book, without giving us so much as a sample page!

Sounds risky, doesn’t it?

It must be! This project has the longest “Risks and Challenges” section I’ve ever seen. Not only that, it’s the most emo “Risks and Challenges” section I’ve ever seen!

Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter Since this is my first Kickstarter project, I don't really expect to make my money targeted goal. Why? Well I have been writing for ten years now, and I still haven't seen profit nor support from most of my friends and family. I must admit poor progress is partly my fault, but family priorities as well as time and energy issues also have their part.
Are you kidding? Then what the hell are you wasting our time for?

(Also, “money targeted goal”? Are you sure you’re a writer?)
Working two jobs, three if you count chores, takes attention and time away from my dream.
Four if you count watching TV!

However, reality demands a writer to have another "paying" job until a marketable literary product is completed. Unfortunately, I learned this the hard way.
Really? Sucks to be you! I learned it the easy way. By reading literally any book, magazine, or blog about being a writer or an artist. They always, always say to keep your day job because it takes a long time to make money on writing or art.

Literary agents or companies will not even take my passion seriously unless I finish the literature that I hype.
No shit! WELCOME TO PLANET EARTH!

… and he goes on like this, for paragraphs and paragraphs of angry, ranting, embarrasing text. (Remember : This guy’s a writer!)

Finally he ends by telling us his SECRET PLAN!
I am very close to completing a ten year novel, scheduled to pitch it at the www.pitchfest.com in Hollywood June 2, 2013. This kickstarter project, if nearly funded, will also be pitched as my "second project". Hopefully, this tactic will put the fear into the Hollywood agents, possibly forcing them to deal.
Yea, buddy. You’re a genius. I hear Hollywood agents are desperate to buy the movie rights to indie comics that haven’t even penciled their first page.

Not looking good

Here’s an exerpt from his first “update” to the project :

“I was hoping that this project would boost my morale, but it is actually having the opposite affect. Therefore, since no one seems to believe in me or my abilities, despite all that I have done: comic book, scripts, animation, edited videos and music […] it will fail.”

Oh, Why must life torture this artistic soul so? Has he not proven his worth with his Loony Tunes fanfic scripts? Has he not shown himself to be worthy by using GoAnimate.com to make Star Trek animations from the built-in clipart? And who can say he has not made a comic? Has he not copy-pasted some X-men art and put his own words in the text bubbles?

WHY MUST KICKSTARTER TORMENT THIS ARTIST?!?

He’s not giving up!

QoH_10
That’s right! He’s going to get page one drawn (Remember, he has to hire an artist) then he’s going to Kickstart page two!

Haha! I suppose if that succeeds he’ll Kickstart page three?

(What if it fails? Will he Kickstart things a panel-at-a-time? A word-at-a-time?)

(The project was recomended by reader Lee R.)

You are funny…and judgemental. You don’t know anything about me. You judge me on working on something original yet all you do is make you money off of criticizing other people. If there is a blood sucker. It is you. Go ahead with your campaign…Emo New Star Trek Trekkie. You don’t matter to me.

Yeah, you would want me to give you the whole story and leave no surprises. That’s not how it works…do you even no what a teaser is? Probably not since you haven’t created anything your whole life.

    • Matthew Vose

You’re creating content, putting it into a public forum, and asking for money. You are going to be judged. People are going to look at it and decide if it is worth giving money to, or even if it is worth warning other people about. If you throw a wobbly when someone does that you shouldn’t be working in the public domain.

      • Tree Rock Creations

I guess you support censoring someone’s work and stealing artwork as well. This person has no right to COPY my ARTWORK and butcher my Kickstarter project…it is slander and stealing. I have no problem with him using the links but this person has stolen my artwork that I paid for! Shows what kind of “person” you are. You really support this? Then, go copy a DVD or Blu-Ray movie illegally. Yeah, this guy owns all the content that is on “this” website right? LOL

        • Matthew Vose

See what you did there? You judged me based on one comment you’d read on a website. You’re not funny though. You’re just judgemental. And possibly a bit unstable. Like a three legged donkey.

Let me give you some free advice, because we should all try to be the change we want to see in the world. You talk about how “watching them destroy things with bombs and bullets is common and most of all…boring.” Yet your main images are characters with guns, two of them in action poses. If you’re flaunting great writing and character progression as a USP then give examples of that – show your character’s backstories, and get images done of how this would look in the comic. Outline some of the story arc you will be creating to whet people’s appetites.

          • Tree Rock Creations

Actually, that is some good advice! And since my family and friends failed to donate “one” freaking dollar. I guess I have no choice but to spoil everything. I have already talked to kickstarter group about getting this project done. And they recommend that I “not” post a comic book project page by page. What I plan on next is posting the whole script on my http://www.treerockceations.com site first, promote it, then launch another Kickstarter project.

And no…I’m not unstable. It’s just I worked hard for my money that I used for paying an artist for expensive artwork rights, and now this guy is stealing it! You posting comments on “this” site is proof that you support it. I’m trying to get this thief to take down “my” artwork that I paid for!

I have already gotten a response from Namecheap.com “We have received your complaint concerning the copyrighted content appearing on kickfailure.com site. However, in order for us to process your complaint we will need it to be created in an official DMCA letter form.”

And I plan on taking care of this today!

          • KickFailure

If I may be serious for a moment, If you had your heart set on selling one page at a time, a more appropriate venue might be http://www.patreon.com/ They’re better set up for letting people “subscribe” to a series of small projects. (They would pledge a certain amount “per page” and be billed that amount every time you publish a page.)

However, I think you’re going to have the same problem. There are thousands of long-form comics on the web that are 100% free, and a surprising percentage of them are really good. Until you have name-recognition as a writer, you’re going to have an uphill climb.

I strongly recommend the book “How to Make Webcomics” by Brad Guigar et al. It’s not about drawing, it’s about making money online, and it’s written by four people who make their living entirely from selling comics on the web.

Even your family won’t support you and thinks you are a joke.

          • TheNate

Two years later: Kickfailure is still up (not updated so often, but up anyway), no one cares about Queen of Hearts, and there’s still not a complete page of a comic book from Tree Rock Creations.

    • KickFailure

You wrote : “Yeah, you would want me to give you the whole story and leave no surprises. That’s not how it works…”

Oh yea? Then explain this : http://igg.me/at/galaxion-V3/x/3114518

That’s an independently published comic book. It has very little action, but it has great writing and characterization. (Great art too, of course.)

Every single page of that book is available for free on the artist’s webpage, but she still raised more money than you ON THE FIRST DAY.

(In a bizarre coincidence, that project page features one of her main characters dressed as The Queen of Hearts!)

  • Tree Rock Creations

Yeah, well you are definitely not an artist. Stealing art work by capturing it then uploading it to your website so that “you” can make a buck off of it. You didn’t even mention my animation that I wrote, directed, edited, nor the videos I edited, nor the music I made. What have you done…except complain. Why don’t “you” try to write something other than taking someone’s work and twisting their words like a immoral celebrity reporter? What a matter…too hard for you?

Where is your “creative” work? I don’t see anything? Are all these images and code on the website created by you? LOL

    • KickFailure

I apologize to Marvel Comics for showing Iron Man and Wolverine on my webpage.

      • Tree Rock Creations

Yeah, you only respect people with money who can sue you. LOL What a bully and thief you are. LOL

  • Tree Rock Creations

Yeah, your idea of a comic is action, action, action…right? Probably didn’t get any of the jokes since you don’t care about characters.

    All you wanna read is:

    “I’m gonna beat you up!”

“Oh yeah! Well! I’m gonna beat you up!”

Go read your Pokemon! LOL And leave us “artists” alone. We have enough trouble keeping our heads up and we don’t need anymore people like you. Only we can see what’s in our head. One things for sure…you are in serious trouble for posting the Queen of Hearts picture without my permission. You better take it down. I know you uploaded it because I did a inspect element using Google Chrome. It is not the link from Kickstarter. You screen captured it then uploaded it.

  • Tree Rock Creations

Here is the original posting on Kickstarter…before this EMOTIONAL BIAS LIBERAL BUTCHERED IT!
    ____________________________________________________________________
Yes…it is a challenge, but risks are near zero. If this project is green-lighted, I pledge to finish it with my own money if necessary.

Since this is my first Kickstarter project, I don’t really expect to make my money targeted goal. Why? Well I have been writing for ten years now, and I still haven’t seen profit nor support from most of my friends and family. I must admit poor progress is partly my fault, but family priorities as well as time and energy issues also have their part.

Working two jobs, three if you count chores, takes attention and time away from my dream. Really, all I want to do is write science fiction and fantasy novels and short stories. However, reality demands a writer to have another “paying” job until a marketable literary product is completed. Unfortunately, I learned this the hard way.

Literary agents or companies will not even take my passion seriously unless I finish the literature that I hype. Yet, despite all the other finished projects, video, animation, scripts, and comics, which can be seen at http://www.treerockcreations.com/creations.html, no one will take me seriously. Funny, the Literary business complains about not having enough material or professional writers yet they do nothing to remedy the situation. Helping passionate writers should be one of its functions, but instead, its leaders chose a path of malfunction. Needless to say, my dealings with the Literary business have been frustrating! And they have made me skeptical! Will this Kickstarter project change my mind? It all depends on you.

I’ve been writing for years, but I haven’t published much. Battling poor morale, overworking myself, and lack of sleep have taken their toll on me. All these factors as well as not being rewarded from my hard work leaves me susceptible to depression. However, I must admit that I should have never chosen the fantasy genre for my first novel — too many characters, too many detailed scenes. But since I can’t turn back time, I might as well give the project justice.

Developing “good” characters takes an enormous amount of time, and I refuse to incorporate shallow characters in my writings. Presently, there is enough shallowness in “literature” and this needs to end before the literature industry collapses. This is why I want to be a professional writer. The industry is desperate for character based writing, and I intend to fill this need by entertaining “intelligent” people. Why? Because they desire and need entertainment too.

Listening to lame characters shout bad, uninteresting dialogue, and watching them destroy things with bombs and bullets is common and most of all…boring. For example, referring to movies, I can’t recall one line of dialogue from the new Star Trek reboot, but I can recite numerous “interesting” and “memorable” lines of dialogue from Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Khan. Changing gears to television, the doctor, lawyer, and cop shows have no imagination, no interesting dialogue, and no character. I don’t care if they save lives! They are arrogant jerks, and I refuse to cheer for them. Can’t the studios come up with something else? The only TV series I admire is Person of Interest. And even that show is starting to become more predictable as it continues. I could go on and on about the poor, amateur — yet titled “professional” — directors and editors by giving more examples of Hollywood’s quick cut black and white flashing — HYPNOTIZING — reality television shows and poor shaky steady cam shots. Are these directors drunk…or on drugs? Why can’t they keep the camera STEADY! I could also criticize the unbalanced shoddy audio mixing that the so-called professionals throw together, but I have made my point…for now.

Hollywood and Literature have been slowly decaying from lack of imagination and “great” writing. Character development as well as quality entertainment is going extinct, and no one seems to be doing anything about it. However, there is hope out there. I am very close to completing a ten year novel, scheduled to pitch it at the http://www.pitchfest.com in Hollywood June 2, 2013. This kickstarter project, if nearly funded, will also be pitched as my “second project”. Hopefully, this tactic will put the fear into the Hollywood agents, possibly forcing them to deal. Agents don’t make anything if I can do it myself. This is why I chose the 40 day period instead of the recommended 30 day; the ending coincides with June 2, 2013.

  • Rather Odd Ranger

So whatever happened with this guy? I saw his funding was ‘unsuccessful’ but did he ever actually cause you any trouble Kickfailure?

    • KickFailure

Oh, he sent an angry email to my DNS provider. He was convinced that would get me “shut down”. Of course, it wasn’t a problem. You can’t shut down people’s websites because you’re angry at them.

Recently he announced on Twitter that he was going to do the comic book himself, without hiring an artist.

He’s apparently using some godawful 3d models. They look like off-the shelf models that were modified by someone who has never used 3d modeling software in their life.

Check out his other Disqus comments. They’re a riot. https://disqus.com/by/treerockcreations/comments/

He hates J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek movies, which he considers inferior to the original series. Why? Because they’re not as well written? Because they completely threw out 40+ years of well-established Star Trek history? No, it’s because they’re made by liberals, apparently, and since he appears to be a conservative who hates liberals and everything they stand for, he hates Abrams, his Trek movies, and their writers. If you don’t, you’re a liberal too, and also a “communist Nazi” and a fanboy. When told that Gene Roddenberry, creator of Star Trek, was a socialist, he claims everything was forced to be conservative in the 60s, which made the original Star Trek conservative.

I don’t intend to deduce his psychological profile by looking at his political beliefs, but it occurs to me that the reason he’s ignored is not because they question his true abilities and talent. It’s because he’s out of his freaking mind.

    • KickFailure

      Oh that’s precious!

Star Trek’s ‘United Federation of Planets’ is basically a parable about how wonderful socialism could be.

It’s too bad that J.J. Abrams took a story about a gang of
heroes setting out to bring socialism to the Galaxy, and turned it
      liberal.
