Dice of Failure

What is that even a picture of? What is a “bilingual” dice? Are the dots in two languages?!?

Promoting the preservation of culture, and languages world wide through a kickstarter funded hand-eye coordinating communication learning, and memory building game set for classrooms, and homes of people bound to encounter the multicultural scenario. Karl Smiley: "So; it's like flash cards only one rolls the dice, and the answers are on the other side?"
Are you asking me? Are you asking me what your project is?

P.S. Pardon, only have a persnickety tablet at my behest for this expression of my work. Compared to a conventional laptop it is fairly consumer oriented. Makes hacking out the details a rough totem pole of the quality prefered to have brought to you for representation;) I have been singlehandedly moving residences, in the mean time~ cut & paste is not working from Tablet so I'll try and get to a libraries computer kiosk~
Are you joking? You want $160,000 of our money, but you’re already making excuses?

Why would you think that’s acceptable?

It’s not even like there’s a rush. He says later that he’s been trying to get this product to market since 2005. I guess in all that time he couldn’t manage to write a proper pitch, because he didn’t have a laptop!

What do we get

Ok, so even if I believed this person was competent (which I don’t) and even if I understood what this guy is trying to make (which I don’t), I’d still like to get a little reward for my money. So what’s he offering?

Nothing at all. (And you won’t even get that until December 2016!)

Thanks to reader “jrbkingston” for suggesting this project, and also the title of this post.

Tiny Fish tank scam!

Here’s a really tiny aquaponic garden. Stick a plant in there and it’ll supposedly be fertalized by the fish poop.

The first thing I’m sure you’ve noticed is that the “tank” part is way too small to comfortably house anything larger than a SeaMonkey. This is basically a fish killer.

However, that’s not why this is here.

Both in the text, and in the video, these guys claim to have invented this device, but not yet begun manufacturing.

Very strange. Then why can I do this?

(There are a lot more. I just got bored of taking screenshots.)

He’s not an inventor at all! He’s just a reseller!

If I wanted to buy mass produced crap from some random reseller, I could go to Etsy.com! (Zing!)

But wait, there’s more!

I really wish I could take credit for this next piece of detective work, but no dice. The credit goes to this observant project commenter :
For all backers - I would be wary of this project. The project creator had another project that turned out to be a scam... I recognized his voice in the video. Just a heads up. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/75321040/free-roll-machined-gamers-dice/comments

The comment thread on this one is great.

The project owners try to answer questions about how they’re making the dice, and quickly reveil that they don’t have the first clue how these things are made!

At one point they talk about making the silicone mold for the CNC process! (The whole point of CNC is that you don’t need molds.)

You Save $14.01!

Glue some dice on your car!

Geek Chic d20 Tire Pressure Caps

Geek Chic “Pressure Caps”. (I assume they mean “Stem caps”). Let’s take a look.

Ok, Basically, this is $2 worth of stem caps crazy-glued to $2 worth of twenty-sided dice.

To make this yourself it would literally cost you $4, and a few drops of glue.

Pedge $20 or more for a set of Pressure caps. (Stem caps)

Twenty Dollars!

Does anyone seriously expect these things to last for more than a week of real road conditions? Professionally made novelty dice stem caps are made by drilling into the dice, and building the covers into the dice!

Just gluing a dice on there is like something a 9 year old would do on his bicycle!

Update :

Looks like they smartened up and started offering ones made the not-stupid way.
